Hello everyone! This is my inaugural blog post. I am brand new to blogging and website design, so I am very much learning as I go here! I am a thirty-something married gal who is passionate about personal finance. Thankfully I am married to someone who also feels that good personal finance management is important. We are both constantly reading finance books and magazines and trying to implement what we learn. However, we find that the challenge of personal finance is two-fold: you have to be smart with your income and choose how much to put in your 401(k)/403(b), what to invest it in, etc., but you really have to be even smarter about your cash outflow and the way you spend the money in your pocket. As my father-in-law says, it’s not so much about how much you make as it is about what you keep! Mr. CMF and I have definitely found that to be true, which is why we try to keep as much as possible! Thus the genesis of this blog.
I have to admit another reason for starting this blog: the elusive dream of financial independence. Otherwise known as the dream of being able to walk away from the J-O-B and never look back (and if I happen to accidentally tell a couple people on my way out what I really think of them, so be it). Man that is going to be a great day. In addition, I hope that in some way I may be able to help others with whatever knowledge I have managed to accumulate along the way. Despite the fact that I read PF blogs every day, I still find that others manage to point out aspects of personal finance that I had never even thought of (or that I knew of, but had never implemented or had not done/tried in a long time).
I spent several months thinking about starting a blog before I decided to take the plunge and do it. I follow dozens of PF bloggers on Twitter, and one day it dawned on me that some of them were following me back. Hmm, maybe I should actually tweet something rather than just being a Twitter lurker?
On this blog I hope to write about all things personal finance. I have no degree in finance or anything like that, but the hubs and I have taken it upon ourselves to learn about this subject as much as possible. I may write about saving, investing, retirement accounts, debt, student loans, credit cards, mindful spending, couponing, finance resources, and just ways to make PF enthusiasts proud. I hope you will enjoy!
