Hello everyone! Welcome to Weekly Money Roundup! Here I wrap up happenings here at Color Me Frugal during the week and share with you some of my favorite posts that I enjoyed from other sites this week. I hope you’ll enjoy! If you haven’t already, please considering Following us on Twitter or Liking us on Facebook.
So those of you who are regular Color Me Frugal readers know that last week I did a little experiment to see if the weekly roundup would draw more readers if it was published on Friday rather than Saturday. The results are in and the answer seems to be yes! So from here on out I am going to endeavor to try to get it published every week on Friday. There may be some weeks when life happens and it comes out on Saturdays instead, but I’m going to try to keep the Friday thing going for now!
The roundup also has a new name- Weekly Money Roundup. Funny story, when I first started the roundup I was calling it Saturday Morning Fever because I thought it was a cute name. But once I started having adsense ads on my site, I quickly realized that having the word “fever” in the titles of the roundups seemed to be confusing the Google algorithm that figures out which ads to put on my site. I was getting ads for heroine addiction treatment, hemorrhoid cream, all sorts of weird medical things that have nothing to do with money or personal finance. Lesson learned! But hey, if you happen to be in the market for any hemorrhoid cream there may still be a few ads floating around my site…
My hubby and I are headed out of town this weekend to see some friends that we ride bikes with in the summer (we are the type of crazy people who do things like ride 400 miles in a week!) We haven’t seen most of these friends since July since they all live in different states, but we are kind of having a reunion this weekend so it should be a great time.
Anyway, on to the roundup!
Below are the posts we published this week:

Wednesday Jan. 22- How to Prevent Lifestyle Inflation
Here are some articles we enjoyed from other sites this week:
Michelle at L Bee and the Money Tree writes, Reflections On an Indebted Life. I really like this post because it resonates strongly with me as Mr. CMF and I begin our journey to get out of student loan debt ASAP. I too have spent a lot of time wondering what the hell I was thinking.
My Money Design writes, You’re Going to Need a LOT More Emergency Cash- Bad Things Will Happen! I think this post is great because MMD gives an excellent example of why exactly you need to have a substantial emergency fund (equivalent to several months’ worth of expenses, as he recommends).
Catherine at Suburban Finance writes, Save Thousands From Your Budget Per Year With One Easy Trick! She’s so right, this is a good one, and definitely one that we here in the CMF household need to get better at!
Afford Anything writes, Why I Wasted an Hour of My Life to Save $3.60. I thought this was a really great article, primarily because it points out a common trap that it’s easy for us frugal-minded folk to fall into. I have sooooo made mistakes like this in the past!
Cat at Young Adult Money writes, 4 Tips for Becoming a Full Time Blogger. I like this article because, after a few months of blogging, I have a serious appreciation for the amount of work it must take to get to the point where you can do it full time! I’d love to do it too. Thanks for the inspiration Cat!
